We are seeking a Senior Credit Risk Officer to play a key role in managing and mitigating credit risk within our organisation. About the Role

As a Senior Credit Risk Officer, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing credit proposals, providing independent credit advice, and supporting the development of credit risk policies and procedures. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure credit risk is effectively understood and managed. Additionally, you will support key credit projects, including the introduction of credit scoring models and automation of decision-making processes. This is a senior role requiring a proactive and analytical approach to credit risk, as well as strong collaboration skills to influence decision-making at various levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth credit analysis and periodic reviews of new and existing counterparties, including private and corporate clients.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving credit applications within delegated authority levels and provide independent credit advice.
  • Support the development, implementation, and review of credit risk policies, ensuring compliance with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Play a key role in embedding a strong risk culture across the organisation, with a focus on credit risk awareness and best practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective credit risk controls, including limit setting and risk monitoring.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of credit risk management tools, including financial models and credit scoring systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including client-facing, credit administration, and compliance teams, to ensure credit risk is properly assessed and managed.
  • Monitor credit portfolios, identify potential bad debts, and develop appropriate mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Contribute to internal training programmes on credit risk management and best practices.
  • Stay updated on market trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of credit and financial risk management within the banking sector.
  • Expertise in assessing the financial structures of various counterparties to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Ability to think strategically and critically to develop effective credit risk solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory frameworks related to credit risk. Highly analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to advocate for risk-based decisions while considering business needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial modelling is an advantage.
  • Fluent in English.
